On July 26, 2006 Nirali was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblast Leukemia and started with standard chemotherapy treatment. She went into remission but relapsed November 2006. A marrow match was never found, but in January of 2007 Nirali was transplanted with a cord blood match.

Despite an initially successful cord-blood transplant, Nirali passed away in late April 2007. We at SAMAR express our deepest condolences and send out our heartfelt prayers for Nirali and for her family.

In her all-too-short life, Nirali brought joy to all those who were around her. Nirali’s family worked night and day across the continents to try to find a matching stem cell transplant.

Here is a timeline of updates during Nirali’s fight against ALL.
