Gurdeep was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia on Dec. 19, 2003. All along he was a healthy boy. After multiple lymph node infections, the doctors decided to do some further tests. That was when he and his family received the news. The family was devastated with the diagnosis. It hurt when Gurdeep said, “Mom when I go to heaven I will ask GOD why he choose me for Leukemia?” They didn’t have any answers, except tears in their eyes.
Gurdeep’s brother was tested for a marrow match, but unfortunately he was not . Many registry drives were conducted on his behalf but a match was not found.
Gurdeep passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 8:20 pm. Gurdeep was at total peace and surrounded by his mom and dad. His example of grace, dignity and the wisdom with which he conducted himself will forever be an example to us all. His family misses him every day and will live through his strength which he showed everyone. He remained positive even though he endured so much suffering.
