Vikram has been part of the SAMAR family since 1998. He has been actively involved in organizing and conducting drives throughout the east coast. Along with his wife Roop Jyot, they have been the face of SAMAR in the New England area. His personal interests include martial arts, writing and being a good husband and dad.

Dr. Ron Jacob graduated from Binghamton University with his B.S. in Integrative Neuroscience and a minor in African Studies. He went on to complete his Medical Degree at Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine. He began as a volunteer with SAMAR in the summer of 2007 and joined the SAMAR staff in the fall of 2007. He has served as the Secondary Medical Consultant and now serves as the fulltime Medical Coordinator. Dr. Jacob has given many educational lectures and training sessions at various venues and conducted multiple drives while supervising the day to day operations. We are also proud to announce that Dr. Jacob became a PBSC donor himself and donated his cells to a patient in need in 2014!

Moazzam A. Khan has an extensive background in advertising, where he was the director of marketing and research and was a corporate liaison for many clients. He is currently SAMAR’s Director of Community Outreach and Donor Recruitment, handling all aspects SAMAR’s public relations and media contacts. Mr. Khan has been integral in organizing each SAMAR coordinated drive and training every volunteer about the various drive protocols. Due to his selfless efforts on behalf of SAMAR, he has received several Congressional, Senatorial, Mayoral and Community Awards.

Rafiya Peerbhoy Khan is the Founder and President of SAMAR. She is a microbiologist from the University of Bombay. Her career started in organ transplantation. Mrs. Khan is a certified Immunogenetic and Histocompatibility Specialist and is involved in clinical Immunology. Due to her experience in the field of HLA at a leading cancer hospital, she is a great asset to the organization in terms of patient support. Due to her selfless efforts on behalf of SAMAR, she has received several Congressional, Senatorial, Mayoral and Community Awards. Mrs. Khan currently serves on Queens Borough President, Melinda Katz’s Immigration Task Force.
