DRIVE INSTRUCTIONS On any given day, more than 10,000 men, women and children are searching THE BE THE MATCH Registry for a life-saving donor. Approximately every five minutes someone is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases that can be treated by a bone marrow or cord blood transplant. For many of these patients, a transplant may be the best and only hope for a cure. Unfortunately, the chances of finding a match for a minority patient (African-American, Asian, Latino and Native Americans) is significantly decreased due to the simple fact that there are not enough registered donors. Together, we can change these statistics by registering more committed donors. Arranging a drive is very simple. We suggest that you combine a marrow drive with a social, cultural, religious, corporate or academic event in which at least 25 people will be in attendance. You can even host a marrow drive at your residence and invite friends and family to register. Once you have a date, time and location picked, please submit a Drive Request Form. We ask that you give SAMAR at least five business days in order to set-up the drive, but if you need to set up a drive in less time please fill out the Drive Request Form and call the office directly at 718-592-0821.
