The chances of finding a match have improved in the past few years but still there are several minority patients who need a match.
Large number of donors from the same race increase the chance of a patient finding a match for a life-saving marrow transplant.

Together, we can HELP BRING A SMILE BACK TO LIFE

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A HERO?

CALLING ALL MINORITIES TO BECOME BLOOD CELL/ MARROW DONORS

If you are African American, Hispanic, South Asian (From India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Indies, Guyana, Sri Lanka or Asian Origin) and Asian Pacific Islander, we need your help to fight Leukemia and save lives of others like you.
The National Marrow Donor Program has 5.0 million registered donors.

  • Caucasians: 66%
  • African Americans: 10%
  • Hispanics: 11%
  • Asian / Pacific Islanders: 8% (South Asians: 1%)
  • Amer. Indian/Alaskan: 2%
  • Other/Multi race: 3%

THE FACTS ARE….

Leukemia and other fatal blood disorders happen to anyone, anytime, anywhere. It is an equal opportunity disease. Scientists do not know what causes leukemia, but it usually proves fatal unless a matching donor is found. The chance of finding a match is 1 in 20,000 to 100,000. Large number of donors from the same race increase the chance of a patient finding a match for a life-saving marrow transplant.
